OILY THINGS WHICH YOUR BODY NEEDS

Normally people who were eating traditional food, got most of the essential nutrients from their
daily diet. But the modern time with its sweets, chips and all kind of fast food products, has
changed the habits. So watch what you are eating and look after that the daily menu is versatile.
This time I will handle edible oils. Maize oil, olive oil, sunflower oil and soy oil are the most common used oils in the kitchens all over the world. If I need to choose one oil and say this is the best considering the omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids I need to take soy oil because of it has a high percentage of linoleic and linolenic acid. Sunflower and maize oil contains lot of linoleic but not so much linolenic acid. Many studies are proving the healthiness of olive oil although it has less fatty omega acids. I prefer use Spanish Virgen Extra cold pressed oil. The only treatment to produce it is mchanical, so it have all other important nutrients from the mature black olive fruit.
From the vegetable oils I jump to cod liver oil, which has helped the Scandinavians to survive the long and dark winter. It is very rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A and D. Many Nordic children take every day a table-spoonful of cod liver oil as an vitamin additive. There are two famous trade marks Icelandic LYSI and Norwegian Möller.
From the South America comes one interesting edible oil made from Inca Nuts (Plukenetia volubilis lin). The oil is called Sacha Inchi and it contains 48% omega-3, 36% omega-6 and 8% omega-9.
So start to use renewed oils to keep your organism going.

EIGHT EKO-PRINCIPLES: BIOFUEL, BIOMASS,GEOTHERMAL, HYDROELECTRICITY, SOLAR, TIDAL, WAVE, AND WIND

Since then I started to write my blog, I was concentrated on two energy solutions, solar and wind.
But looking further and other countries there are also more interesting ecological sources to make energy. At first I will refer to BIOFUEL, which can be either alcohol or oil. There is lot of resistance for this alternative ,because it can reduce cereal production for human consume while taking farming fields into fuel production.Brasil is growing corn to make ethanol, Finland using rape and mustard to have biodiesel.
The second principle BIOMASS, consist of burning husk (China:rice husk),greenhouse waist (Spain, Almeria) and forest industry waste (Finland: bark, chopped branches). In China they produce 144 million
kWh/ year.GEOTHERMAL is the most important energy "spring" in Iceland where the subterranean hot water (steam)is used to make heat (Krafla power station) and electricity (Hellisheithi, production 300MW/year). The fourth principle hydroelectricity is the most used and oldest for industrial purposes (Three Gorges Dam China 22.500MW/year).The fifth is my favorite SOLAR energy which I use in my "finca" in Spain.I make electricity with photovoltaic panels and hot water with water panel.
China has a big solar park project where they first build the solar panel industry on the place and after that they will install on the same place the whole panel production to make electricity. The sixth one TIDAL has mostly been only a project on engineers tables but now there is a power station to be built in sound of Islay Scotland. The seventh alternative WAVE is expensive comparing the produced kilowatt with the investment. I know one project from Australia Garden Island ( production 5MW /year). The last principle is WIND which has been in full sail during the last years in EU.In that area Spain, Denmark and Germany is leading in Europe . The wind mill generators are either DC or AC.
The small for house hold use are normally DC and you can store the electricity direct to the batteries.

BREAKFAST WITH CATERPILLARS AND BUTTERFLIES

Speaking from energy you cannot forget these common expressions like : he is very energetic,he has inner energy and I am loading my batteries.Every morning when I wake up, when the weather or time table gives up, I go out to the front terrace to have my breakfast with coffee and toast.
You see the sun rising, hear the birds twittering and see a beautiful caterpillar above you in the honeysuckle eating its leaves. It is a Death`s-Head Hawk Moth`s larva with its 8 cm length and bright metal colors which vary from yellow to green and a touch of blue. When I have finished my coffee I feel a new person to start a new day with recharged batteries.

EKO- AND SURVIVAL TREKKING

I have had so good acceptance with my blogs that I will start to handle other things, which may have links with ecology, energy, nature and environment.
I think such things like poisonous insects, SURVIVAL and TREKKING and all human activities which have something to do with "EKO".
There have come during th recent years new things inside the concept "EKO". People have started to look after their old cultivated plants, domestic animals and even the the "old days traditional country panorama" which is disappearing little by little under the new motorways and enormous holiday resorts.
Where are the old-fashioned taverns and pubs with history and with that delicious " LISTA DE TAPAS". The answer is flying in the air.

FERMENTATION, DRYING AND SALTING: OLD METHODS TO PRESERVE FOOD AND SAVE ENERGY

Have you ever thought, when you are eating how much that type of food needed energy before it was on your table to be eaten. Sometimes the value of our menu is mostly different kinds of energy costs. The three old methods: fermentation, drying and salting are still nowadays holding their place to keep our food unspoilt. We have examples from the first group :german sauer kraut, sour milk, wine and beer.In old days to prepare these foods needed almost no energy and the method kept all nutrients and vitamins or even produced more like yeast with vitamin-B. All these new ways canning, freezing, pasteurizing, sterilizing and radiation treatment (US-army bacon) use thousands and thousands kiloWats electricity per year. There are several systems to handle for example schrimps. One is quick frozen (QF) when the foodstuff is frozen very fast to preserve the consistency as natural as possible, and the second one is double frozen (DF),which means that the shrimps is frozen first on the ship when caught and second time when they are cooked and peeled in the factory.
So be aware when you eat how much crude oil and electricity you are swallowing down.

El CAMPO IS SPANISH AND MEANS COUNTRYSIDE

To use energy is not only the problem of the motors and the electric machines. It is a human question as well. How much do you weigh? Do you move enough to stay healthy?Do you eat food which is transported from far away using all the time crude oil and its derivatives.Do you use lot of foodstuffs which comes from cow farming and milk production?
To stay healhty you normally have a certain basis: Exercise, food and genes.
I will only touch the two first.
Countryside life in southern Spain is in average very saving considering to the energy consumption. The winter is not hard at all and their is almost all the time free energy from the sky; the sun. This endless source of energy you can use to produce electricity, hot water, fruits and vegetables all the year, and the last but not least; happiness and lot of vitamins which your body needs daily.
The countryside here in South Levante near Murcia region is quiet and don`t causes "burnouts".
You can go walking and pick up your daily herbs from the surrounding fields. There are spices like rosemary, thyme, caper, fennel, lavender and medicinal herbs ,some very effective if you only know how to use them.
Here you can drink lemon juices and fill your deposit with citric energy.
And if you don`t believe, you can make light connecting lemons to a LED lamp.

Open Forum dealing with PB platform catastrophe

The question number one: IS THERE ANYTHING TO BE DONE MORE?
The second question is : Are the multinacional oil companies and the local politicians in oil producing countries doing their best to avoid this kind of catastrophes?
THIS IS MY INVITATION TO START AN OPEN FORUM DEALING WITH THE SITUATION IN THE DELTA OF MISSISSIPPI AND COASTS OF TEXAS AND FLORIDA.

Loving Gulf of Mexico

Rain water reservoir and sewage water recycling

The area where I live in Spain is one of the driest in Europe. The daily life in Levante territory near Murcia region would be very difficult without the old canalizing system which brings sweet water from inland and from the big artificial lakes. This area has always fight against desertification and the people in old days collected all rain water in subterranean reservoirs and wells which they called aljibe. In my place I have repaired the old system and I store every drop which I can. From the aljibe it is pumped for watering plants and trees with solarenergy.
Also we have a connection to the mains water which we use ourselves in cooking and bath.
The sewage water goes later to a tank with a filter. When it is full it is pumped for fruit trees.
This water we dont use for vegetables to avoid contamination with unpleasant bacteria.
With all these efforts our place is now green and producing always something for us to eat.
All of these blogs has been written with a Mobile PC with a pen modem using only solar energy.

The PB platform exploded and oil is polluting the Gulf of Mexico

These types of news are daily and they will fill you with anger knowing that one cannot do nothing , because of crude oil is running the world economy.
But we can change our own life style looking first the latest elctricity bill. How can I reduce my invoice and with this small gesture contribute to a change in the world politics.
First step: Look each machine that you use in your home what is its capacity in WATS.
It does´nt mean that for example your vacuum cleaner with less WATS is not so efficient as the one with lot of more wats. There are things in electrical equipments which "eats" wats, like heat and kinetic resistence.
Second step: Always look the capacity in WAT when you are planning to change or buy a new machine.
If you normally do´nt need any hevy duty engines so keep eye on the wats.
Third step: change all your incandescent lamps to so called Energy Saving Lamps.
Fourth step: Now when you have come so far it is easy to start using the high tecnology in house illumination. It is called LED. ( Light emitting diod )

GREECE, PAPANDREU AND THE ECONOMICAL SITUATION

The recent economical caos in Greece is a consequence of the queue of errors done during the
last 30 years. The dependence on imported energy has been too significant when compared to the economical structure of the country. The politicians have not wanted to change their positions regarding to the energy sources while the rest of the world has been looking after alternatives.
Greece archipelago with its thousands of small islands accostumed to use petrol and diesel.
With these types of fuels and a generator you have both electricity and heat with very little investments.
In those days when crude oil was cheap it was "okay" but since then the prices has gone up to "heaven" and with that, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe is becoming a a a state with riots, forest fires and people who destroying their own future with "molotov`s coctails". To improve their economy they must change their energy dependence on oil and fossil fuels and try to find and allure domestic and international money to invest in SOLAR, EOLIC and THERMAL power systems which I consider very profitable for Greece economy in the future. When a nation can keep the money to buy energy which they use for industry and so.inside their boarders it will encourage in huge amount local economy and business activities.
SOLAR, EOLIC, and THERMAL energy sources are infinite and help the world to avoid climate and environmental catastrophes. That`s why me and all my SCANPOLAR friends are hoping the very best to the Greece Government in their attempt to keep Hellas together and avoid its bankruptcy.
